As a reminder, the five lettered lines referred to below are:

Line A – The Chin,  Line B – The Garment Neckline,  Line C – The 'Detail' Line,  Line D – The Bustline,  Line E – The Garment Hemline. Example of a Zone: Zone A-B is the area between Line A and Line B.

     Why This Outfit Works:                                 
 

The A-B zone attracts the eye from the bustline.

The C-line (necklace fob) is below the bustline.

The B-D zone is smaller than the D-E zone.

The pocket detail and long necklace fob are low, near the bustline.

The long sleeves extend the D-E zone well below the bustline (D-line). 
   

     Why This Outfit Works:                       
 

The A-B zone attracts the eye from the bustline.

The B-D zone is smaller than the D-E zone.

The button closure detail on front distracts from the bustline.

The white sleeves and narrowing of the vest at top visually lower the shoulder line, visually raising the bustline. 
   

     Why This Outfit Works:                    
 

The A-B zone attracts the eye from the bustline.

The B-D zone is smaller than the D-E zone.

The fabric pattern distracts from the bustline.

The 3/4 sleeves end below the bustline. 
   

     Why This Outfit Works:                           
 

Removing the white under-sweater, changing the necklace and adding a dark over-sweater to the outfit above changes the outfit but it still works.

The A-B zone attracts the eye from the bustline.

The B-D zone is smaller than the D-E zone.

The Longest necklace diaracts from the bustline.

The fabric pattern distracts from the bustline.

The 3/4 sleeves end below the bustline.

The over-sweater has a narrowing effect.

Just tucking in the blouse, adding a vest, and changing the necklace alters the combination again, but it still works.

The large collar becomes the A-B zone, which creates a virtual B-line and attracts the eye from the bustline.

The B-D zone is smaller than the D-E zone.

The long necklace with the fob on the bustline raises the bustline.

The red neckline becomes the C line so now the   A-C zone attracts the eye from the bustline.

The pleated detail  on front distracts from the bustline.

The zipper pull is below the bustline and distracts from the bustline.

The sleeveless vest has a narrowing effect.

The virtual A-B zone created by the long necklace attracts the eye from the bustline and raises the bustline.

The  virtual B-D zone is MUCH smaller than the D-E zone.
